Civic Credit Union joins credit unions around the world to celebrate International Credit Union Day (ICU Day). This year marks the 75th anniversary of ICU Day, which exists to recognize credit unions’ mission of changing the world through financial inclusion and opportunity, and to celebrate credit union employees and members around the world.
The credit union difference
This ICU Day, get to know what makes a credit union different.
- Credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives, which means they're owned by their members.
- Credit unions are involved in their communities, guiding their membership to make the most of their money.
- Credit unions offer financial products and services that may not be offered at other financial institutions, and are often provided at better rates.
- As of 2022, there were more than 390 million credit union members worldwide. That’s 390 million people investing in themselves and their local communities!
Join the movement
Since the first ICU Day in 1948, credit unions have helped shape local communities and the financial lives of members around the world. Join us in celebrating the holiday and the work of credit union employees through outreach, volunteering, fundraising and community appreciation.
