UNC School of Government Scholarship
If you’re a Civic member and a local government employee in North Carolina, you’re eligible to apply for a scholarship to help cover the cost of tuition for conferences, classes and seminars offered by the UNC School of Government (the School).

About the School
The UNC School of Government in Chapel Hill is the largest university-based local government training, advisory and research organization in the United States. Civic is a proud partner of the School because it’s a vital educational resource for municipal employees. The School plays an instrumental role in the professional development of Credit Union members like you — and ultimately, in the communities we serve together.
Scholarship application deadlines
The Civic Scholarship committee reviews applications based on the course start date. Scholarship application deadlines are shown below:
- March 1 (courses starting between April and June)
- June 1 (courses starting between July and September)
- July 1 (application review for Municipal and County Administration course only)
- September 1 (courses starting between October and December)
- December 1 (courses starting between January and March)
Your application must be received by the deadline above. Funds will not be awarded on a reimbursement basis for courses or programs that are completed or in progress.
This Scholarship is managed by the Civic Local Foundation, an organization supported by us and our sister Credit Union, Local Government Federal Credit Union.
