Dear members,

Thank you for sharing in this historic time in the life of your credit union, as we approach Civic Day this June when we become an independent credit union! Your Board and management team have planned well and are completely prepared for this historic day; a day to honor our history and to celebrate our future.

We have considered and planned for independence since the founding of LGFCU in 1983 — and we created Civic as the tool to achieve it. We’re proud to be the only credit union focused on North Carolina local governments, and grateful for our members’ work in making our state great, across each community they serve.

As you’ll see in this 2024 Annual Report, your credit union remains financially secure amid this transition and stands ready to serve you now and into the future. We will do so squarely focused on our values of People first, Planet always and Prosperity for all. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I’m proud to highlight 2024 accomplishments:

In a key moment in our history, we combined our two credit unions into one when Civic members voted to merge into LGFCU.

In the spirit of co-creation, we hosted many face-to-face meetings statewide to understand your unique needs and gather valuable input from our 1000-plus Advisory and Executive Advisory Council members who are volunteers with deep connections to both their credit union and North Carolina local governments and communities.

We introduced new options for saving, in Steady Save Savings and Health Savings Accounts, and YoungStar and NextGen accounts for youth. We continue to innovate with state-of-the-art digital services that save you time and make banking easy, with tools that empower you to reach your financial goals.

In 2024, we added new ways to do business with us, rolling up our sleeves to open 11 unique Civic branches statewide. By partnering with nationwide networks, we also ensured you have access to shared branches and surcharge-free ATMs wherever you go. And with many new faces added to our Experience Center, we’re ready to connect with you one-on-one when you need us.

We’ve built on our partnerships with local government associations and others who share our commitment to sustainability and thriving communities. This includes our relationship with North Carolina City County Management Association to partner in assisting front-line local government employees in communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. We are here to serve those who provide their daily service to us as fellow community members and North Carolinians.

As we head into independence, we’re the same credit union you’ve always known — only better. You can trust that we’ll always be here, working alongside you to help build your best life. Thank you for being a member.

Best regards,
Ken Nolan
